Spectrum Controls Premieres Three New Analog I/O Modules for ControlLogix Platform at Automation Fair

Enhance PLC capability and performance with new analog I/O modules

November 20, 2002 — Anaheim, California Spectrum Controls, Inc., the leading manufacturer of hardware and software for the industrial controls marketplace, will debut three new 8-channel analog I/O modules—the Universal Analog I/O, the Analog Input with HART Protocol and the Analog Output with HART Protocol—at Automation Fair in Anaheim, California. These new I/O modules were specifically designed for seamless compatibility with Rockwell Automation’s Allen-Bradley ControlLogix 1756 I/O chassis.

The 1756sc-IF8u Universal Analog I/O module is the preferred solution for mixed I/O applications. This eight channel analog input module accepts current, voltage, resistance, thermocouple and RTD input types. Data is fully linearized and output in user-selectable engineering units. Channel configuration is convenient and easy to complete—using existing programming software.

The new eight channel Analog Input and Analog Output modules with HART Protocol provide ControlLogix PLCs and ProcessLogix DCS with full analog capability and the benefit of HART (highway addressable remote transducer) protocol in one I/O module. The 1756sc-IF8H and 1756sc-OF8H Analog I/O Modules maximize I/O performance by combining real-time HART data acquisition in conjunction with standard analog acquisition and control—at a fraction of the cost.

Each module also acts as a HART master, allowing communication with HART field devices. Field devices may be interfaced directly to the module, eliminating the expense of additional external HART bridge devices or hand-held communicators.
