Spectrum Controls Offers New Flow Module with Meter Proving Capability for Petroleum Applications

July 18, 2002—BELLEVUE, Washington —Spectrum Controls, Inc., the leading manufacturer of hardware and software for the industrial controls marketplace, is pleased to announce the addition of the 140 MPM 204 00sc 4-Channel Flow/Meter Proving Input Module for the Modicon Quantum Automation Series PLC to the Spectrum Controls’ product line.

The 140 MPM 204 00sc Flow/Meter Proving Module, combined with the Spectrum Controls Universal Analog Input Module and Modicon’s Programmable Controller Flow Computer Function Block, offers the functionality of a dedicated flow computer—at a fraction of the cost. This combination of components provides unsurpassed reliability, coupled with the security and accuracy of a PLC at a lower total-cost-of-ownership.

The 140 MPM 204 00sc Flow/Meter Proving Module provides exceptional flow measurement accuracy and the ability to support both short and long meter proving runs. This module offers versatility and flexibility with the ability to interface with up to 4 AC or DC pulse sensor types. The Flow/Meter Proving Input Module can dramatically lower installation costs as flowmeters may be directly interfaced to the module, thereby eliminating the expense of additional external conditioning devices. In addition, the Flow/Meter Proving Input Module provides double chronometry (pulse interpolation), allowing short run prover meter calibration and pulse fidelity checking, for failsafe protection and improved system diagnostics.

The partnership of the Flow/Meter Proving Input Module and the Schneider Electric Function Block provide American Petroleum Institute certified flow measurement data and system reporting capabilities that were previously only available from a dedicated flow computer. Up to 16 meter runs are supported, each with proving and diagnostic capabilities. The Flow/Meter Proving Input Module is a comprehensive alternative solution for pipeline monitoring, custody transfer and net oil measurement applications.
