Oil/Gas
Application
A
major oil refinery is employing the Analog I/O Modules with HART
Protocol into their extensive control system. The modules provide
digital communication with plant instrumentation. This ability
also allows devices to be periodically read and configured,
including commissioning.
The
Analog I/O Modules with HART Protocol offer:
•
better resolution of the process
variable
• more process information from the
multivariable devices
• significant savings in time for
instrumentation setup
• the elimination of incorrect
configurations; and
• remote instrumentation configuration
through the program code.
Spectrum
Controls' modules were immediately compatible with not just the
PLC but with the HART devices. For systems with devices in
proximity to the control system, a lower cost was achieved due to
the lower cost of the HART instruments versus the newer more costly bus
instruments.
The
1756sc-IF8H Analog Input Module with HART Protocol was
successfully incorporated into their well testing and steam
generator process control. The process uses the following
instruments:
•
Rosemount pressure, temperature and
3095FT multivariable
• Micro-Motion coriolis flow
• Drexelbrook capacitance level; and
• Magnetrol radar level.
