Originating in the late 1980's by
Rosemount, HART Protocol has become the leading communication
technology used with smart process instrumentation today. HART or
"Highway Addressable Remote Transducer" is a field
proven, "open" communication protocol. Easy to use, HART
Protocol provides highly capable two-way digital communication
simultaneously with the 4-20mA analog signaling used by
traditional instrumentation equipment.
All HART-smart
field devices contain valuable information to improve process
operations and better manage plant assets. Integrating HART with
plant systems for real-time access to this information unleashes
the power in these devices for use during normal plant operations.
Typical HART
field instruments allow you to access valuable data above and
beyond the 4-20mA signal. However, the amount of data is device
dependent.
