so what is
HART Protocol?
Back Next
HART is an
acronym for "Highway Addressable Remote Transducer." It
is a digital protocol that rides on existing 4-20mA wiring.
HART Protocol
provides highly capable two-way digital communication
simultaneously with the 4-20mA analog signaling used by
traditional instrumentation equipment. HART Protocol does not
disturb the 4-20mA analog signal.
With a reported install base of
more than 5,000,000, HART Protocol is
now considered the global standard in smart instrument
communication.1
Virtually all major global instrumentation suppliers offer
products with HART communication.
HART instrument
cost savings benefits of $300-$500 in initial
installation/commissioning and $100-$200 annually in ongoing
maintenance/operations are commonly reported.2
With the Spectrum Controls Analog I/O with HART module, savings
can easily exceed thousands of dollars compared to alternatives.
